Welcome
to the home page of the
BERMAGUI
SURF LIFE SAVING CLUB
The club runs patrols
at Horseshoe Bay and is currently in its third incarnation.
Bermagui SLSC was first
established in 1935, but the club was shut down during the War.
The club
reformed in 1971, but with a lack of members, the
club again shut down until recently reforming again.
Horseshoe Bay has a
safety Rating of 3 (1 is the safest, 10 is the least safe), and
therefore
is one of the safest
beaches on the south coast.
Bermagui is located on
the far south coast of New South Wales, 370 km south of Sydney,
660 km north-east of
Melbourne and 240 km south-east of Canberra.
Volunteers from the
club patrol the beach at Horseshoe Bay on weekends from early October
to late April (see Patrol Roster for details).

Our aim is to provide a
safe and friendly environment for people of all ages visiting the beach.
The club is a member of
the Far South Coast Branch of Surf Life Saving in NSW,
joining in competition
with the other clubs in our region during the warmer months.
2007

In 2004, the Australian Government announced that 2007 would be
officially known as the 'Year of the Surf Lifesaver',
the first time a community-based organisation has received such an
honour.
The
Year of the Surf Lifesaver marks the 100th anniversary of Surf Life
Saving in Australia.
